The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is a compilation of the general and permanent rules
published in the Federal Register by the executive agencies of the federal government.
These regulations are organized by subject area and assigned to one of 50 CFR Titles.
Each Title is updated once each calendar year and consists of as few as one printed
volume (Homeland Security, Aliens and Nationality, Highways, Postal Office, Emergency
Management and Assistance, etc.) or as many as 31 (Environment). Each Title is divided
into chapters, with the issuing agency or agencies usually bearing the chapters’ names.
Each chapter is then further divided into Parts, covering specific areas of regulation.
